![]() You’ll see the device wake up and snap to action, placing the phone front and centre vertically for you. Try to balance the phone somewhat evenly, then push and hold the power button to turn the gimbal on. Unfold the gimbal arm, and lock your phone into the sliding bracket (some lettering shows you which direction to place it in and which way the camera needs to face). Setting the device up is clear and simple make sure the gimbal has a full battery, then download the DJI Mimo app. Lastly, this version of DJI Osmo Mobile also folds up nicely for transport. The key and most important feature for me about this hand-held gimbal is that it leaves you a place to plug in a microphone, which most other gimbals don’t.īecause of the angled design of the arm and where the phone grip is placed, you can plug things into the charging or aux ports without destabilizing the phone or jamming in wires bent at 90 degrees. To get the best results from this gimbal, you need to shoot through the DJI Mimo App, which uses Bluetooth to connect to your phone. The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal has on-board controls so you can move, tilt and pan without actually touching your phone. It helps you get smooth, stable shots that you couldn’t otherwise get with wobbly hands and your iPhone or Google Pixel phone alone. I’ll share my experience including what it can do, how to use it and whether I think it’s a good buy for us average Jane and Joe YouTubers. But how can you go from basic smartphone shooting and take your videos to the next level? How about getting a gimbal to bring a new level of smoothness and stabilization to your videos? I recently had a chance to review the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 gimbal. If you’ve got a smartphone, you can produce killer videos. If you think you need a ten thousand dollar camera, a major videographer lighting rig or a Steadicam to make great videos, think again.
