Preset:Slow - 80-100% on 12/24 (cores/threads), AVG FPS 5.6 to 7fps over time Preset:Medium - 100% utilization on 12/24 (cores/threads), AVG FPS 30-42fps over time I haven't organized the result data or benchmarked systematically but very briefly. ![]() Over the last few days I experimented with different encoder presets of Handbrake (Medium/Slow/Slower, CQ:20RF 30fps Main 5.1) for 2.7K res DNxHR/444/10-bit export from DVRS to 2K HEVC x.265/NVENC for YouTube. but difference is abou 15 fps in common 1080p video coder h.264 Before i had rendered with gtx 970 and free version. Now over time I finally did the calculations for how many pixels need to be manipulated at 30/60 fps and at how many times a second by any system and am wiser for the facts and have learnt not to be easily frustrated. Assuming my GPU is the bottleneck (imbalanced system) I am now waiting to obtain the 3070Ti (10/16 GB VRAM?)or 3080FE with GDDR6X to overcome what may be the memory bottleneck and hopefully drive cpu utilization to upwards of 80% and reduce render times. ![]() My GPU is close to maxed out at 90% and above but I can never view it in the Task Manager because a security vulnerability UI prompt recommended I disable some windows monitoring feature when I first installed the Nvidia driver - So My 3D and Compute graphs are always flat/zero but HWInfo does show the gpu utilization and the fans start whirring with temps at 70 Celsius. Now I see 30-45% utilization (using 12-16 virtual cores) due to Neat NR and a 2.7K H.264 timeline exports to DNxHR at 6.5FPS with NR (compared to 1.5 to 3 fps with DVRS gpu-only NR). So I paid up $350 to a local reseller in the same week to purchase the Studio version - but NO improvement in final render times Alas (still thankful for the smoother editing and grading experience though)! Then partly because I did not achieve the close to perfect results (as a total novice) with the built-in DVRS NR and majorly because I simply want to offload the gpu and watch with some satisfaction a healthy usage graph for my $500 cpu - I spend another $159 on Neat Video Pro to balance the GPU/CPU and obtain a speed-up during export renders (I do like the output results I get now). (I now get stunning colors and clarity out of the same source footage a few years later)!! (I not only had "no time" to view any tutorials, but as an "experienced computer expert" I expected any software to "obey my commands" and magically churn out pretty looking videos by simply fiddling with it a bit)! That too I started my first attempt at video editing with source footage that is not only Raw/Flat/Unsharpened but also shot UW and completely pale and murky green to begin with. Then I gave the newly launched DVR 16 for a spin and found it much more smoother experience compared to before and also the results of color grading in one week were instantly more acceptable than almost a year of struggle with LWKS to me. I gave up on DVR and purchased Lightworks for $150 (at a discount sale) only to realize a year later that it was extremely limited compared to what DVR can do. ![]() That first year was incredibly frustrating as not only I was as a complete Novice - like a monkey at the controls turning dials without understanding how to get it right but also experiencing excruciating WTF moments with stuttering and jerky playback on the edit timeline with DVR 15.x. I ran in to the same problem with almost similar utilization levels (10-15% on just a few cores) as reported by the OP (I have a GPU that is only 10% faster than the OPs). I purchased a $500 cpu - the 3900x to do some fast video editing with H.264. sig) I get render speeds of around 120-200FPS on an HD timeline to an HD delivery H264 or H265 file with GPU usage as high as 85% depending on the amount of grading and number of video tracks.Įven if you don't need the extra functionality (such as temporal noise reduction, lens distortion, etc) that the Studio version offers it really pays for itself in reduced render times if you're doing any amount of work with H264 or H265 media. Rest assured that the studio version is *MUCH* faster. ![]() RCModelReviews wrote:I assume that those with the slow rendering speeds are using the free version of Resolve and rendering to H264.
